Interview with Tracie

What inspired you to make this kit (your featured kit)?

I wanted to make something fresh and summery, and summer always makes me think of lemonade, so I created a color palette inspired by lemonade.

How long have you been designing?

Since January of this year.

What made you decide to design?

I’ve always loved the creative process, and I loved playing around in Photoshop, so this was the next step for me.

How would you describe your style?

I guess a little of everything. I like to try different styles and create kits that are versatile for different types of scrappers.

Since becoming a designer, do you feel that you scrapbook less?

Yes, I definitely create fewer layouts now.

What is your favorite product that you’ve created?

My favorite right now is The Art In Me, a kit celebrating the creativity in all of us.

What or who inspires you?

Colors! I love to play with colors and put together palettes.

What is life like in your household?

Busy! I stay at home with our 2 little ones, so I sneak in designing time in between changing diapers and taking care of their needs and wants. Most of my designing is done during naptime and after we put them to bed.

What product are you enjoying creating right now?

I’m loving making papers right now. I’ve been playing with some new techniques for papers, and I’m having so much fun discovering my niche in that area.

How do you recharge your creative spark?

The best way for me is to just step away from the computer for a while. If I try to force something, the creativity just doesn’t flow.

Do you belong to any creative teams?

Yes, I’m a Sugar Babe at Sweet Shoppe Designs. It’s my dream CT!

What software do you use to create your products?

I use PS CS4 and Xara.

Describe your dream vacation.

I’d love to go spend a month in a cabin in the mountains and get away from the Louisiana heat. :)

Do you have any other hobbies besides scrapooking?

I love photography and music, although I don’t have as much time for either as I used to.

What color(s) are you drawn to the most?

I love girly and bright colors.

When do you know you’re finished with a layout?

When I look at my layout and know that anything else I add would just be “more”, not “better”, I know I’m done.

Are there any designers in the scrapbooking industry that you admire? If so, who?

I’ve always been a huge fan of Nicole at Sugarplum Paperie, and I had the honor of working with her on a collab recently, which was just a dream come true for me.

Give some ideas of how paper scrappers can utilize your products.

I’ve seen many fabulous hybrid projects that were created with my products, so printing different parts of kits out and using them would be a fun way to use digital products.
